‘SACRED VESSEL’ Plaster casts, moulded with acrylic paint and sand, a textile scarf that embodies the female upper body and arms.

It is an interactive work that invites the viewer to play with the fabric pieces, to embrace the belly or to show a caressing hand gesture on it.

These typical poses can be seen in every pregnant woman, but I believe that each individual has her own unique way of communicating with and feeling her unborn child.

Audio recordings of the unborn foetus from the ultrasound, which can only be heard directly on the object, are intended to make this experience of the hidden new life in the mother’s body even more tangible.

“Plaster casts of pregnant torsos honour the female body as a sacred vessel in transformation. Paired with the sound of an unborn child’s heartbeat, the work becomes a living symbol of creation, resilience, and the profound beauty of life’s beginning. This installation explores the female form as both fragile and powerful, capturing moments of becoming and preserving the quiet strength and vulnerability of pregnancy. Through the interplay of form and sound, it offers a testament to life’s cycles and the timeless symbolism of the feminine body as a bearer of creation.”
